Internationally renowned Geneva-based pianist Léo Tardin has made good use of the void left by the pandemic in the lives of performing artists to reinvent himself. This is where he got the idea of creating a musical performance in which he’d produce both the sound and graphic content simultaneously, combining the unmistakable sounds of a Fender Rhodes with an animated set projected on a screen. Floral motifs, at times exotic, at others inspired by the Geneva region, come to life in stop motion and colonise the space, controlled by Tardin with a clever set of pedals while he plays, drawing landscapes before our eyes with musical notes. We enter the musician’s dream, the poetic capsule he creates for us thanks to his rich harmonies, his touch and his innate sense of improvisation. When one flutters, the other swings, the picture moves and the notes dance. It’s magical.
