Geneva-based label Cheptel Records is releasing three of its artists into the wilds of Greater Geneva, pairing them up for three concerts for the public, cows and butterflies. Toulouse-born Jokari’s music is playful, a new, fresh outlook on French- pop that borrows form electro and minimalism. To bouncy melodies featuring synthesizers, drum machines and the occasional strings, her mischievous voice addresses everyday life with humour and happiness. Milla Pluton, for her part, invites us to discover her psychedelic, offbeat version of the Geneva countryside, where tractors have feelings and bodies are plastic bags. But make no mistake, behind the playfulness of the self-proclaimed countryside dyke lie deeper truths and unspoken realities. The two Geneva accomplices of Bandit Voyage round off this unlikely country trio with their overtly cheesy yet ingeniously doctored pop. In her distinctive voice, as if she was about to collapse at any moment, Anissa sings of love in all its forms and of modern life with biting irony. Be careful, these associations could well set a few barns on fire!
